Rep. Scott Perry Outlines Strategy for Republicans to Defy History and Expand House Majority

Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) has outlined a bold strategy for House Republicans to defy historical trends and expand their majority in the 2024 elections. Speaking to Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle, Perry emphasized that Republicans can achieve this goal by delivering "meaningful" results and capitalizing on the Democrats’ increasingly "childish" behavior. With House Republicans set to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded while maintaining federal spending levels, Perry argued that this is the first step toward fulfilling their legislative agenda. The CR, he said, is designed to prevent Democratic obstruction and pave the way for significant policy initiatives, including the "Trump Big Beautiful" bill, which aims to extend and expand the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, secure the border, boost energy production, and reduce spending.

The Importance of the Continuing Resolution and Legislative Agenda

The CR is more than just a stopgap measure to keep the government operational. According to Perry, it is a critical tool for Republicans to prevent Democrats from derailing their efforts to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse in federal spending. Once the CR is passed, Republicans plan to focus on the "Trump Big Beautiful" bill, a sweeping legislative package that reflects Donald Trump’s policy priorities. The bill is designed to build on the successes of the 2017 tax cuts, which Perry and other Republicans credit with driving economic growth. Additionally, the legislation would address key issues such as border security, energy independence, and reducing government spending—a central plank of the Republican platform. By delivering on these promises, Perry believes Republicans can demonstrate their effectiveness and build momentum ahead of the 2024 elections.
